Mom's who use an AR or RS formula for spit up/reflux
Did you have to change to a faster flow nipple? I find that since the formula is thicker it tends to clog the slow flow/newborn nipple and I also find she is sucking hard and alsmot struggling to feed.
I know that using a nipple that flows too quickly is not good and can cause her to feed too quickly and spit up. But I just worry that the nipple being too slow for this thicker formula is causing her to suck too hard and swallow air.
Any advice would be appreciated.

DS was on it for awhile and I had to switch to a faster flow nipple. I tried the powder too and that was a disaster - the nipple didn't work at all.
We've since switched to regular Similac Sensitive which is thinner.

Yeah I am using the powder and the stuff is as thick as pancake batter. I wonder if we should switch to the premixed. It's just SO expensive though.
ughhh- this formula thing is KILLING me..I feel like it's a huge science experiement!
Maybe I'll try a faster flow nipple...

DS was on the Sensitive RS RTF and I did have to switch pretty quickly. I found that he was sucking so hard and getting tired from it so he wouldnt finish the whole bottle. Once I switched, he was fine.
How old is your DC? You could also just try increasing the nipple size a little bit by sticking a fork prong through the nipple to stretch it if you dont think she can handle a faster flow.

I would switch to a fast nipple because instead of you putting the cereal in the bottle it's already in there which is why its thick. (AR is added rice)

Are you mixing it with a whisk and letting it sit? There are some good instructions on the BRU website.
I gave DS the powder once and he sucked on the bottle for awhile before I realized he wasn't getting any.

I am actually mixing it in the Magic Bullet...I wonder if a whisk would be better. I'll check out the BRU site- thanks!

She's almost 6 weeks old- My Dr said to stick with slow flow before we switched her- to avoid her getting too much formula and spitting it up. But that was with regular formula. I am thinking she needs a faster flow with this stuff...

Re: Mom's who use an AR or RS formula for spit up/reflux
we have been using it for a few weeks now (ar) the ready formula goes through nipple fine. when i used the powder I had problems and she got so flustered and was not good.
I mixed it one scoop at a time and added a tiny bit more water and that seemed to help.
so if she was getting 4 i would add 4 ounces of water put a scoop mix it (either with a fork or just shaking it) than add the other scoop and mix it.

Re: Mom's who use an AR or RS formula for spit up/reflux
DD is on AR and I did not switch to a level 2 until she was a few months old. I use the RTF and it wasn't clogging up the nipple. Maybe it's the powder?? The fast flow might be too much at 6 weeks.
