San Francisco
DH & I are going to San Francisco & Napa at the end of the summer. Our hotels and flight are booked, just wanted to see if anyone has recommendations of things to do/see, or restaurant recommendations. Thanks!

Re: San Francisco
I heard the Alcatraz tour is pretty interesting.
DH and I are also going at the end of August - I was just wondering what hotels you are staying at (if you don't mind). I have been asking around for hotels recs but no one has any for me in San Francisco. thanks.

Re: San Francisco
San Francisco is awesome. We stayed at the JW Marriot and loved it. Things to do/see:
Alcatraz Coit Tower Bike across the Golden Gate Bridge Muir Woods Sausalito Fisherman's Wharf
SF has some awesome restaurants, too. Just walking around the city is a lot of fun.
Enjoy! :)

Re: San Francisco
Love San Fran! We really liked the Scoma seafood restaurant. We took the free tour of the sour dough bread place on the wharf, Alcatraz, we also took a city tour , we walked around too, and there is a nice mall in the city too. We were only there for 2 days we left for a cruise to Alaska there. We stayed at the Pickwick hotel. HTH

Go to Sonoma and Napa. Take a hot air balloon ride. Something I will never forget.

Re: San Francisco
We kicked off our Honeymoon in SF.
Buy tickets for Alcatraz the first day you are there. They sell out quickly and in advance. It was a great tour - audio and self directed. We really enjoyed it.
Go to Fisherman's Wharf, Ghirardelli Square. Just walk around and enjoy.
We drove to Napa, went to Cakebread and the Coppola Wineries. Enjoyed both immensely. Had lunch at a small restaurant in town.
Drove back and hit Muir Woods and Sausalito. Both were very cool. Wish I had more time in Sausalito.
SF in general is a great place to visit. Have an excellent time!

Re: San Francisco
thanks for all the ideas girls! We're staying in Fisherman's Wharf for 3 nights at the Sheraton, then going to Napa for a few days, then back to San Francisco but staying downtown at the Grand Hyatt. We definitely plan on seeing Alcatraz, Muir Woods and Sausalito. We also plan on driving down to Monterey, I hear the drive is beautiful.
