Oh my wonderful DH!

Well my DH decided to cook dinner tonight while I was at a students home (I do homecare cases after work)---> Very nice gesture.
Well we have this special pot to make spanish rice with Chicken that I previously used last month, and it slightly scrated the glass top on our brand new stove that we just purchased in May. So we both agreed that we would never use the pot again. Well today DH is making spanish rice and he thinks it would be a great idea to use the special pot with tin foil underneath so that way the pot doesnt scratch the ceramic top. Welllllll.....when dinner was done he realized the hot pot coolking ontop of the tin foil (in direct contact with the very hot glass top) melted the tin foil right onto the glass top of the stove. When we tried the scrub and scrap off all the melted tin foil, the glass was all broken and cracked. The stove top is completed UNUSABLE. So now after only 2 months of owning the stove, we need to purchase a new one. Chat Icon
We even purchased the extended warrenty, however this is not covered under warrenty bc it big bold letters of the manual it states DO NOT PUT TIN FOIL IN DIRECT CONTACT WITH GLASS TOP!

Re: Oh my wonderful DH!

You should see if you can just replace the glass top...here is an article with a few instructions and a link to a parts provider.

I just shattered my glass top stove two week ago too. I purchased an entire new stove since it was about the same price to replace the glass. (I have a cheaper stove).

Im sorry that happenedChat Icon

Re: Oh my wonderful DH!

You can definitely just replace the cook top, my dh used to work for GE and replaced them quite often. What brand is your stove? You can order it online and hire someone to install it. FM me if you need help and i'll ask him specifically.
