Lupus Anticoagulant

Hi Ladies,

I just got some bloodwork results back from my Dr. and I tested very faintly positive for something called Lupus Anticoagulant. Apparently it is a blood clotting disorder that is internal and can sometimes cause a placenta to detach early and result in a miscarriage (among other things non fertility related) . That being said, he did stress to me that it was a very faint positive, but he would still like for me to see a rheumatologist for a more proper diagnosis. Anyone have any experience with this? I'm trying so hard not to over react but now I'm concerned that if I do get pregnant, it will end up being a m/c.

Also, DH had a SA and his results were great except they found white blood cells and leucocytes in his semen. My Dr. said it was a very small amount and that it wasn't interfering with the sperms motility but that he should still have it checked out by a urologist. Has anyone else's DH had this problem?

i had previous mc prior to getting tested for all blood clotting issues..

i tested positive for lupus anticoagulant. i was referred to a rheumatologist aand a hematologist. the rheumatologist pretty much only ran other auto immune tests and told me the same thing that the hematologist said - i will have to take a low dose asprin forever and if i got pregnant i would prob have to do lovenox but would leave that up to the hematologist.

The hemagologist put me on lovenox and low dose asprin as soon as i found out i was pregnant

i dont have the same issue, but i do have a blood clotting issue (PAI-1 P4/P5 Polymorphism) and have had two chemicals. i dont know if they were due to the clotting issue because i have immune issues also. its prob a combo of the two.

this cycle i started lovenox on the day i triggered. i do not have to take baby aspirin.

i just wanted to say that i dont think anyone would ever tell you that the blood clotting issue that you are "faintly positive" for will guarantee that you will miscarry. nothing in this process is a guarantee. that being said you may as well go to either and RE or one of the other recommended blood doctors, and get their opinions on what meds you should be on to better your chances of a sticky bean.

as for stopping TTC, thats a person choice. after my last chemical, i had to wait a full cycle to TTC again. i was considering trying naturally if I ovulated. but then the thought of having another chemical just because i was impatient and didnt want to wait to get the OK from my dr. didn't sit well with me. in the end i didnt have to make the choice because i never ovulated on my own anyway. so the world made the choice for me.

believe me, i completely understand that it is hideously hard to take a break sometimes, but sometimes you have to if there is reason to believe that waiting will better your chances of having a healthy pregnancy. i didnt want to wait AT ALL, but the RE said I should and i knew waiting to be treated for the issues was a better move than trying and having another chemical and being back in the same boat a month later and having to wait all over again. so obviously that choice is up to you and DH and your doctors, but if you think there is a chance that a waiting could help, and you don't wait, and something goes wrong, you will end up beating yourself up about it. so in the long run for peace of mind you might be better off waiting. like i said i only feel that way due to personal experience, normally im in the camp of dont wait cause you dont know what will happen.

Hi, I also have anti-lupus coagulant. My ob-gyn found out about it 10 years ago when i started wanting to have a child. There is no such thing as faint positive.. Positive is positive and once you test negative it doesnt matter.. Once there is a positive, you have the condition. i also had other tests that also came back positive for clotting disorders. This one can be helped by using lovenox or some other forms of blood thinners.
