Non-Traditional Wall Art
Anyone have any pics to share of ways to decorate your walls without traditional "art"?
I remember seeing something with using flat woven trays-- maybe from that younghouselove site?? THought that was a cool idea...
Anyone do anything else cool like that?

The big forks and spoons were cool at one point. 
Mosaics, bicycle wheels, old window frames (I had a TON and DH trashed them), put cool wrapping paper or fabric in a funky frame, for the kitchen - old copper bundt pans, graters, cookie cutters (heck you could even use these for a kids room - animal shapes, flower shapes, sports shapes, etc), ummm, that's all I got.
No pics though, sorry.

I LOVE this pic. That room just says "come and in and stay for awhile". And love that wicker decor for the wall.
I think they might have some of these wicker trays at IKEA also. Maybe I saw them there.
What about tin art? That can be fun, old fashioned, or modern probably. Lots of colors and lots of different styles.

I have one small wall on the way to my bedroom with all different mirrors; new and vintage in all dark colors so there is some theme to the design.
My new neighbors from upstairs came to see our apt. and she asked me if it was ok to steal this...I think I got the idea @ Anthropologie.
I go there and take pics with my camera

Tonight I will...it's a small area but I'm always searching for new mirrors. Hobby Lobby has great home items but none are around here. I travel for work and pick up things when I see one.

lol nothing in my house is shabby chic lol...but i have this plain somewhat octagonal vestibule in between my bedroom, bathroom and guest room...i figured its seperate enough that i could try it...if it seems too off from the rest of the house i can always save it for a nursery or basement laundry room.

They are great and this way you don't have to run looking for frames. Love them. I need more mirrors - I buy them as I go.
Ok these are crappy pics b/c my BB didn't have the flash on...DH did me a favor.
Don't mind the bedroom shot of the unmade bed either!
I also gave you one of my guest bathroom just so you can see what I did with what I have. The bathroom was sprayed a long time ago and eventually we will redo it, but for now it's fine.
The other pic is some art I bought and had AC Moore frame it. Just 3 pics that I had - cost more for the matte than the art I think.

I don't have a picture, but I did a series of 10 frames (two even rows of 5) that are 8 x 10 overall (brushed nickel in my case) with a white matting, and then I just bought 10 different patterns of craft paper that went with the look and colors of my room.
Instead of pictures I put the paper in the frames and I actually really love the way it came out, and we get compliments on it all the time. Plus, if I ever get bored it's easy to change up!
Better yet, with sales/coupons at AC Moore I think the whole project was $60.

The only picture I have access to at the moment is actually of my friend's Great Dane in the middle of my tiny living room, but it will hopefully give you an idea! (And I am laughing realizing he is so big you can't even see the coffee table behind him.)

Thanks! I am charging my camera battery now.
He's a big boy even for a Great Dane. I don't think many dogs will ever get quite as big as he is! He's big sweetie though!
