the met opera

this probably will be moved but i will try.

I was looking over the met opera site and was very interested in Les Contes d’Hoffmann but you can't buy tickets yet. I highly doubt anyone will go with me but i wanted to know prices and if anyone has seen this production? where should i sit (can't afford to spend a ton of money but i want to be able to see people)

I have only seen Carmen and the marriage of figaro and few others like that on TV. I cant' understand any of it but like the music and mostly the visuals and read the subtitles. I just figured I never did it so might as well go even if its alone.

Also how do you dress?

Re: the met opera

DH and I have season tickets to the Met.

We usually sit in the Dress Circle/Family Circle area. We usually once per season splurge and do Orchestra.

People dress in a wide array of clothing. You'll see anything from really dressy (tuxes, etc) to sweatpants Chat Icon

We're kind of in the middle. I like to dress comfy but nice. It's a special night out (JMHO).

I've never seen that particular opera, my husband has probably seen every opera since he's been doing this from the time he was a teenager. I can ask him his thoughts/opinions on it. I know the Met has started doing alot of new productions lately.

Even if you don't like Opera, I've always said it's an experience one should try at least once in their life.

My parents have had season tickets, but now my mom will stand on line for 4 hours to get the seats she wants at just a few performances a year when they go on sale.

My dad is tall, so they sit in the booths on the second level at the side. I'm pretty sure they are less than orchestra.

I love the met! Chat Icon While I don't wear wedding attire, I guess I dress just below that. DH usually wears dress pants, dress shirt and tie, but leaves the jacket. I've seen some interesting attire at the met. Chat Icon
