ziti at a bbq?
We are making a bbq today with burgers and franks for 8 people. I was thinking of making a tray of ziti to have as one of the sides. Is this too heavy for a bbq side?

It is a bit heavy, but people do love ziti. I usually make a light pasta dish for a bbq. Usually brocolli, garlic, oil and grated cheese. Also good at room temp or even cold.

Thanks! I feel like if I don't make ziti I'll just pick up a pasta salad at the supermarket. I'm really not a cook AT ALL and ziti is my one specialty!! My DH is the real cook of the house but he will be making all the burgers, etc. on the grill.
I would love to make the dish you described but I wouldn't want to try something for the first time when I have guests over, KWIM?
So, hmm.. to ziti, or not to ziti....

Honestly, i think it is too heavy.
You can always pick up pasta salad or what I do, is I always pick up 'Suddenly Salad' we like the bacon ranch one, all you have to do is cook the pasta (which is inlcuded) and then it comes with seasoning mix and you mix that with mayo, and when the pasta is done cooking....run ice cold water over it, drain add to mayo and seasoning mix and put in the fridge to make it cold.
Everyone loves it and sooooo easy!!

I love baked ziti, but I also think it's really hard to ruin any kind of basic pasta salad.
I've had the Suddenly Salad before and I am not crazy about it (would rather just make my own which is also easy and tastes much better).

Re: ziti at a bbq?
Thanks everyone! I decided I'm going to make the ziti since I'm actually really in the mood for it and people can eat as much or as little of it as they want. In the meantime, I'll make a whole tray so if anything, I'll have dinner all set for tomorrow since we can just reheat it!!

I just made this for a side tonight! I threw in canneloni beans though.
