Punta Cana

DH and I are going in July, staying at the Excellence. Can anyone who has been there recommend some fun excursions nearby? We've been looking at the map, and it seems like our hotel is at the northernmost end of the hotel chain, so it seems like if we do anything in the southern part of the island, we will be in for a long bus ride making numerous stops at all the hotels along the way to pick up other guests going on the tour. We're up for any suggestions. Thanks!

We are going in December but staying at the Majestic Elegance. So far we are most likely doing a day trip to Saona Island. Also looking into swimming with sea lions at Ocean World in Puerto Plata, but that might be a really long drive for you, not sure though. I'd love to hear other suggestions as well!

ETA: just saw that Puerto Plata is 7 hours from Punta Cana! Guess we won't be doing that

2nd update: Just found a place near punta cana called Dolphin Island and they do have swimming with sea lions yayyyy!
