How often do your IL's visit DC (particularly if they live close and you do NOT have a great relationship)?
Just curious if I'm the only one not wanting to entertain MIL as often as she wants to come over (when DH is at work)...
ETA: Would I be out of line to ask that she visit on DH's days off, the weekend?

Never. Ever. My in laws have never visited my daughter. Not once. Ok, once in the hospital. She's turning four. They've never even seen the inside of my house. Ask me if I'm sad?

DS is 11 months old and my MIL has seen him 5 times. And I'm not complaining. She's EVIL!! LOL! She lives 30 minutes from us and didn't even see him for the first time until he was 4 months old. She's a complete low life (thankfully DH agrees) and we limit contact with her.

It's not that we have a BAD relationship...it's just strained and weird .....BUT they only come over on DH's days off....so 2-4 times a month. They would be here EVERY day if we let them!!
i haven't invited them over to spend time here with DS & I since maternity leave. it's just weird to hang out with them........I have them here occasionally at best for holidays & birthdays........

I have a good relationship with MIL, but if I thought about it I could probably count on one hand how many times she has actually been here to our house. We go to her once a week.

DS was born October 13. MIL has seen him once, FIL has seen him three times.

My ILs live on LI and we live in Brooklyn. It is only a 30 minute drive. DD is 14 months old and they have only seen her 3 times. DS used to see MIL alot more when she used to come here to watch him.
