Anyone take a long Amtrak train ride before?
About 12-13 hours? If so, how was it? Would you feel safe if it was just you and your kids without your husband? Thanks!

I went from NY to Montreal. It was about 10 hours.
I loved it, but I love trains. Less stressful than flying for me.
I was just happy to not be at work, the view was great, I had a lot of time to read. I was with DH when when were were dating.
It was safe. There was staff around.
It might be a little boring for your kids though. You can get up & walk into other cars, but I found that difficult b/c it was so shaky.
My friend has gone between NY and Chicago many times , at all hours & never had any problems, except being delayed in a snow storm.

I've taken long Amtrak rides many times and always found them to be safe. It's nice and relaxing to just sit there and watch the scenery go by.

I have. I went to North Carolina.
I have a bad back so sitting in a regular car for that long was TORTURE!! I thought I was going to go insane! We could only get a sleeper car for the ride home and it was soooo great! I don't know if the sizes vary but the one I was in was only made for two people
