I guess UNTIL that happens they are posting projected retirements, openings for other reasons....

I would imagine there are still openings in schools (retirements, people moving, getting married, career changes, life changes) and people can still move between schools.
I thought open market was just for moving within the system - not hiring new people.

I thought the same thing as well, because I cannot register on that website because I am not a NYC teacher.

yeah we just got a memo about how to apply on open market - for now it's for transfers or hiring within system. may stay that way this year.
