Summer mommies - what did you do for your DC's 1st Birthday?
DS is 9 months old, so we have a few months still, but I want to start planning his 1st birthday. What did you do and what was your "theme"? Feel free to share pictures if you have them!!

Re: Summer mommies - what did you do for your DC's 1st Birthday?
Mid June here & we did a backyard party with the big white tent (thank goodness because it POURED all day )
We did a blue & yellow color scheme with stars & moons! i also used the 1st Birthday themed papergoods that were colorful with the stars on them! The ballons were blue & silver mylar stars and blue, yellow & white latex!
ETA that that is a giant "cupcake" cake! So we had that plus small cupcakes as dessert and a HUGE bucket of Ralphs rainbow ices!!
WE did traditonal BBQ....burgers (from Gemellis!!), hotdogs, salads, Hawiann chicken, salsa, guacamole & chips.....typical summer BBQ foods mostly!

Re: Summer mommies - what did you do for your DC's 1st Birthday?
For DD's 1st we had a huge backyard party & did red/white/blue theme. Her bday is 7/7
Slip & Slide (bigger kids loved it)
Bouncers & badmitton
Mommy & bday girl
Little pools
We had huge cupcakes (red/white/blue) from Costco & a big cake. Cupcakes were a big hit w/ the kids
We did red/white/blue theme & had the pools & bouncer house & basically the kids were out/about while the parents relaxed, drank, etc. We did smores later on around the firepit & had glow in the dark necklaces. Then they had fireworks later that night so we had a nice view.

Re: Summer mommies - what did you do for your DC's 1st Birthday?
DD#2 is a July baby, so we'll do someting toward the end of the month at our house. Order some food, blow up the bouncie house, do some crafts with the kids, and everyone will be outside. Hopefully this will be our last "horraahh" before we move. DD#2 is a May baby, last year for her 1st we did the same thing we plan on doing for #2. We didn't do it up too much and did a princess theme. #2 this year will have Elmo coming to her paty as well as balloon animals and inflatable games (all a package we ordered). I say keep it simple for the 1st birthday, it's more for the parents and guests than the baby. They have no idea what's going on really. Certainly won't remember it.
