Moms of young todders...Re: dinner

Is it aways a cr*p shoot?

Sometimes she eats an entire piece of pizza.

Sometimes she eats 4 goldfish and a piece of cheese.

That's normal right?

I feel like I offer her 76834769 things every night and it is annoying.

DITTO!! Same as you. Some nights Liam is a pig, other days not so much. I try not to worry though. I've done the 3 strikes, you're out card. If after I offer you 3 different things and you don't want any, you're outta the highchair. LOL

Its always a crap shoot over here!

Same thing, one day its a whole slice of pizza, next time I offer it to him and its like I'm giving him shitttt on a platter!

For the most part I know he'll eat if its:
pizza
macaroni (doesn't matter if its marinara, penne ala vodka, oil and garlic)
eggplant parm
cheese calzones

Completely, 100% normal, and it drives us nuts sometimes Chat Icon

I don't fight him over food anymore. I do offer 2 to 3 different options but if he doesn't eat, I don't force him to. I do make sure he gets plenty of milk though (and will give him extra at night if he didn't eat a good dinner).

Ryleigh gets what she gets...period. DH grew up with a mom who would skip her own dinner to make him something else...I'm SO not doing that.

If she won't eat what I give her, she can have fruit or dry Cheerios.

Chelsea is two and eats like that. Tonight I gave her ravioli which she usually loves and she wouldn't touch it. So she wound up eating string cheese and apple sauce. Chat Icon

Yes-- it's very frustrating, but lately she's been better. I think a lot has to do with what's happening with her teeth.

Re: Moms of young todders...Re: dinner

DS is almost 7. Some nights, he'll half of a large pizza. Other nights, we'll finish most of one slice. Same with other meals. Some nights he'll eat more than me, and others he'll eat less than his 4yo sis.

I don't mess with it, though. He eats when he's hungry, and he stops when he's full. DD does that, too. That's what most experts say we should do as adults (which I can't seem to do myself... Chat Icon )

always a diaster. one day she loves something and the next day she won't even put it near her lips. some nights she eats dinner and some nights i'm lucky if she'll have a cheese stick. Doctor said it is normal and not to feed her junk just so she will eat.

Yep. It took me a while but I've learned to not stress about it.

If he doesn't eat, he doesn't eat.

I'm done making 15 different things for him and having it all go to waste.

ditto for Frankie...although I am of the mind set. You eat what is served to you or you don't eat at all. On those night, he gets more milk, and a yogurt or rice pudding for a snack.

They eat when they are hungry. So one day a lot and the next day a little...it all works out in the end!

My DD is 18 months old. We feed her whatever we're eating for dinner. Luckily she is a GREAT eater though so we don't really have any battles at mealtime and she likes and eats everything we give her. Chat Icon
