Kings Park
DH and I are interested in Kings Park based on the great things we've heard and the reasonable taxes.
In looking at maps online, there are a lot of open areas off of Old Dock Road, Lawrence Road, Old Northport Road, Indian Head Road, just to name a few.
Are these industrial areas? Undeveloped land? Anything that should make us steer clear of these areas?

the area near Old Dock I think is the old psych hospital.....its mostly empty now. There is tons of undeveloped land cause of the park and stuff....without looking at a map I would have to say the areas you are talking about are just undeveloped.....not really industrial areas that far north.
Except for near the dumps but that is near townline.....if you are looking for near 25A its all good.

we considered a home off lawrence (north of 25A, but decided against because it was very near one of the Psych Center buildings. They have been talking for years about starting demolition on the buildings and we just weren't comfortable with the uncertainty of what will be built there in the future. I am still looking in other parts of KP (among other towns as well) though.
ETA: Here is an article from last summer stating demolition is supposed to start this summer, but I haven't found any newer info..

Old Northport and Indian Head are Industrial.....Old Dock Rd, has a middle school, the old abandoned psych center, Nissequoge state park, and it ends at the Bluff in the nissequoge river.
