Anyone's toddler not sleep well in a hotel?
Please tell me I am not alone. We went away for a few days and Sabrina slept so poorly in the hotel and even told me she liked vacation but didn't like sleeping in a hotel bed. She wanted to go home to sleep
I really want to travel a little and maybe go to Disney sometime soon but every hotel stay with Sabrina thus far has been miserable and I don't feel like that is much of a vacation. It is actually torturous for all of us.
Is anyone else like this? And what do you do? Just do day trips until DC is older? Take grandparents along as back up?

RAISING HAND HERE!!!!
We went to Sesame Place last summer. Stayed over 1 night. Brought the Pack N Play. It was a DISASTER Had the A/C running to drown out hotel noise, etc. She was on the living room side initially, then we moved her closer to our bed so she would feel more "secure".
She literally WOULD NOT SLEEP, she cried & cried. The only way she would sleep was ON TOP OF ME while I sat propped up on the pillow in the bed. That's it.
It was a disaster...utter disaster. When we go to my mom's house, she has her own room with a crib, etc...she's usually really bad with sleeping while we're there too.
I love going away with her obviously

Thank you!!! I thought I was the only one. DD was so miserable that even when I pulled her into my bed, she still cried out. She was scared and in an unfamiliar place.
Fortunately she sleeps at my parents as she is comfortable there but hotels are horrible
And DH thinks we should go to Poland to see his parents and he can't understand why I am hesistant about such a trip (long flight, time difference, sleep issues in strange places)

Re: Anyone's toddler not sleep well in a hotel?
3 weeks in Spain in a house we rented...and she would NOT go to sleep before 1am EVER.
We haven't travelled since then, it was too traumatic. Up to that point, she had been to Spain, California, Santa Fe, Boston, etc with NEVER any problems at all.
I am hoping it's the age and they grow out of it.....?

ADD US TO THE LIST!!!!!
In the last storm we lost power for 5 days. We stayed at a local hotel for 3 nights.
It was a nightmare! Refusing to sleep.
In addition, DS talks VERY loudly at night and moves a lot. Either DH or I slept with him. We got kicked, punched. He kept tossing and turning. It was not his bed.
For Disney's trip coming up, I decided that I will bring his pillow. I am hoping it will remind him more of home.

We went to Minnesota to for 4 days to visit dh's family. It was a nightmare. Chelsea would not sleep at all!!! The only time she slept was in the car. I told DH we are never going away again.

We usually co-sleep on vacation to avoid that

We found that more frequent hotel visits helped to make it more bearable and routine for my freaked out little guy. He adjusted gradually, and now at 4 yrs old he is a hotel sleeping pro.

my dd does not sleep well anywhere, but she is totally out of her element sleeping anywhere else but home
our trip to NY should be fun last time we went up (she was much younger) she slept in the bed with us EVERY night

Re: Anyone's toddler not sleep well in a hotel?
I feel so much better knowing that others suffer with this. So many people make it out like kids are flexible and roll with the punches and while DD is really good, sleeping in strange places is NOT one of those rolling things...
