Fixing what the sellers left us

I posted earlier this week about fixing a brick patio in the house we moved into 2 weeks ago.

Well, when they took away the bricks from the patio, look at the wall behind it:



There was NOTHING in between our family room wall and the outside, except for loosely placed bricks (that we could just pick up by hand). How scary is that??? Here's a view from the inside of the wall:



Notice our 2-week-old berber carpet there. Nice.

THANK GOODNESS the wood behind it wasn't rotted, so they just had to change out the sheetrock and the insulation there. But that also means that the sellers had done a quick patch-up of the issue themselves very recently and knew exactly what the problem was, but didn't tell us.

So, we'll be left with a big patch of dirt instead of a patio for a while now, but at least we're fixing it right. Can't wait for that tax refund to come in, so we can put down a new patio!

OMG...that is crazy! We had to deal with a few crazy things at our house when we bought it too....it's a good thing you found it now though!
