oceanside
After looking for a house over a year I have decidd to expand me search to oceanside. If anyone has any information on the schools it would be helpful. Also what are the desirable areas within Oceanside and why? Any additional information about the town would be helpful!

Re: oceanside
I'm in Oceanside (selling my house presently) but the schools are great all around. There's a kindergarten center for all kids in the district then they go to one of I think five elementary schools.
As for the sections of town, it's all about your budget and what kind of house you're looking for. If you like older, more traditional houses, the "Terrace" or "Terrell" areas would be good, if you like split levels and high ranches, "Oceanlea" or "Estates" would be good.
There's a lot of good shopping, good commute to NYC and close to the beach. We've liked living here.

Re: oceanside
Thanks for your feed back on Oceanside! One more question do you need flood insurance becuase of the proximity to the water?

Re: oceanside
I don't need flood insurance where I live in Oceanside, but I have friends who do. It all depends where the house falls on the map.

Re: oceanside
I grew up in Oceanside and now live there...Def reasonably priced and a good school district! We are in the Oceanlea section, but actually currently looking in the Madison section, bc we want a larger home, and the homes in the Madison section are larger. We live in a split, and I would say 90% of houses in the Oceanlea section are splits...we DO need floor insurance as we're right near a canal. Shopping is convenient..you're really close to the beach and just a nice mix of people I feel

Re: oceanside
I grew up in Oceanside and my husband and I bought a house in Oceanside last year. I love it there. Plenty of shopping, easy to get to city, beaches etc. School districts are great

Re: oceanside
we now live in oceanside, we bought a cape in aug 08. We love it! we are so close to so much! The schools also have a great reputation which was a big factor in us buying a home. Im so happy we moved here.
We did not need flood insurance where we are. We are closer to Atlantic Ave. if that helps you
