Have a Question for all of you - Our Paver Project - Pics included

This is what our property looks like now. I drew this in PowerPoint, so it's not to scale. Chat Icon

And this is what we are thinking about doing. What do you think?

The new patio in the back would replace our wood deck and would tie in with the patio we already have. My DH wants the driveway to tie into the old patio and tie into the new patio in the backyard. I hope that makes sense. And the new patio would not be straight like how I have it in this picture, but curves. I just couldn't draw the curves. Chat Icon

So what do you guys think?Chat Icon Of course we are going to ask Fernando for his ideas also.

I think it is going to look great. The only thing I think I would do is maybe increase the depth from the house part out to the grass. It doesn't look like it will be wide and might end up being awkward space. If it is wide enough then I would leave it.

Oh yeah we would make it wide enough. This isn't to scale. It would probably be about 15ft deep actually. Our deck now is about 10ft deep I think. I could be wrong though. Chat Icon

This is the deck that is there now. See where the stair landing is in the dirt, the new patio would come out a little past the stair landing.

ETA: I changed the depth. I was thinking of something else.

So we measured last night when we got home. It's 10ft deep now and we would probably do about 15-16 deep with the new patio of pavers. I really hope we can do this. Now I really really want it. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Have a Question for all of you - Our Paver Project - Pics included

I have a question... The driveway, where the fence is. Would you take the fence down and have it continuous from the street all the way back to your existing paver patio? Or would there be a break where the fence is?

I'm asking because that looks like a long expanse of pavers and I've seen looks like that where it was a little overwhelming. With the gray/gray, you could punch up that area with color in season with potted plants and such, or you could build in some semi-raised paver planters against the fence on the inside. Chat Icon

No matter what, I think it's going to be a drastic improvement and I'm happy for you!

No we are not taking down the fence, but yes the pavers will go from the front driveway to the backyard where the patio is now. I think we are going to ask Fernanado for some advise on what to do. I think we might have the darker pavers in between. Let me see if I can find a picture of what I'm talking about. Right now the patio has lighter pavers in the center and darker pavers on the outside. I think for he driveway & the walkways we will do the same thing. So with the driveway once you go behind the gate, we probably would do another row of the darker pavers to split things up. I think that is the only way we will be able to tie the old patio into the new patio and driveway. But I guess Fernando will have some ideas as well. Chat Icon I hope all of that made sense. Anything will be an improvement at this point. Chat Icon

I like your idea of potted plants in that area too. Great idea. Thanks. You can come over and help me. Chat Icon
