How many shades of wood can you have in 1 room?
The house we are buying has oak floors and cherry cabinets. What kind of table should I buy? All the tables that I like have an expresso finish. Would that be ok, or do I need to go with Oak or Cherry?

I have a few shades of wood myself but I don't know about the espresso and cherry cabinets together. It depends on the undertones of the cherry. Some have more of a brown and some have more of a red. I wouldn't worry about the floors, the oak will def work.
ETA: What about black? I have cherry, oak & black and they all work well together.

we have the same situation exactly.. i was very unsure of what kind of dining table to get bc its all one large open room... we're going with espresso!

We have three different in our Great Room. We have cherry wood cabinets, but they are more on the brown side. Our floors are more of a honey color and I have a cherry wood DR table and cherry wood entertainment center, both on the red side. Check out my pics. I think it all works well together.
