Do I try to feed her something bland? (vomit related)
Poor DD can't catch a break. She's had a NASTY headcold since last Tuesday, with fever and a wicked mucousy cough that's still here.
Well, since midnight today, she's thrown up about 8 times The first 2 times were her dinner...since then it's all water and (TMI) the mucous from her cold.
She keeps asking for water and I know she's thirsty (she's a big water drinker to begin with, much less when she's sick), so I'm trying to ration her, but she just threw up all the water again.
At this point do I try to get something in her belly? Toast? Banana? Or wait it out? Do I not let her have her water if we're trying to wait it out?
Ugh, seriously this poor kid has had a rough 8 days

oh no, poor Baby. I'm not sure what I would do. Maybe wait it out a few more hours. Has she been drinking pedialyte?

No, just keep trying to give her sips of water. If she can't hold down water, she won't be able to hold down food. She is probably confusing the cramping with hunger pains. Feel better!

Come on Diana -- you know this girl REFUSES to drink anything but milk or water. Even refuses the ice pops.

Thanks. I'm totally rationing her, she'd chug the whole cup if I let her. She hasn't asked for food I just was wondering if it was a good idea to try to get a few bites of something in there if I could.
I'll wait. Thank you

I would keep giving her little bits of water at a time. You want her to stay hydrated... If she wants food, I'd give her a little banana, toast or rice.

I would let her have the water but I wouldn't try anything else until she can keep that down.
So sorry she is sick

Re: Do I try to feed her something bland? (vomit related)
This happened to us last week. DS threw up 5 times in a row and then it stopped. He won't drink anything but milk.
I didn't give him anything for about 4 hours after the last time he vomited. Then, I started out with giving him saltines, one at a time, about 30 minutes apart. Once I saw that he could keep that down, I gave him a little bit of milk mixed with water (about 2 oz of milk and 2 oz of water.) I gave him small amounts like this the rest of the day, but only if he asked for it. We ended the day with applesauce and toast.
Good luck

I agree. With Christopher, he didn't evenw ant to eat for at least 24 hours. Saltines were the first thing he wanted to eat

Re: Do I try to feed her something bland? (vomit related)
When we were dealing with the stomach virus the ped said only give pedialyte and water. Until she could keep the pedialyte down do not give her any solid food. Once she was finally able to keep the pedialyte down (about 13 hours after she started getting sick) we gave her a few crackers about an hour or two later. Once she could keep those down we kept offering her water and pedialyte and gave her toast later that night.
