I f I change my garage into a bedroom....
will my taxes go up because it is now considered living space, even though the garage was always there and im not adding sq footage

yes it will unless you do not apply for the CO and keep the garage door this way no one will know. (close up the wall on the other side but you will have no window since your keeping the garage door) Plenty of people do it but when you sell you will have to apply for the CO and it might be a pain depending on your town.
