Food Aversions?

How long does aversions to food(s) typically last?

I was fine up until 4 days ago and suddenly the thought of touching raw chicken or raw meats completely gross me out. The thought of eating chicken has even been hard. I also cant bear the thought of cooking. (I find this so strange) I really enjoy cooking and eating home. Dh and I rarely order out and for the past 4 days I havent been able to even go into the kitchen.

Any advice?

I haven't been able to open my fridge without getting sick for the past 6 weeks. I am 11 weeks pregnant and I'm hoping I am close to the end of all these aversions....

Raw meat gets to me too. I make DH deal with any raw meat (if and when he is willing to do so.... Chat Icon

I've been relying a lot of my mom's cooking, rotisserie chicken from the supermarket (which I make DH buy because I can't go into a supermarket without getting sick), ordering out, canned soups, and frozen foods.

It went away for me around 13 weeks. I wasnt even able to cook for DH and I up until that time. We relied on take-out a lot! Chat Icon I was so grossed out by just looking at it. Thankfully, it got better and I finally got a desire back to cook those foods again.

I was like that (with an insanely hightened sense of smell, which I still have) from about 7 weeks until 12 or 13 weeks. My M/S coincided with it. I couldnt' go anywhere near raw food, and essentially avoided the kitchen at all costs. Luckily, my dh was willing to cook and go out and get take out.

Re: Food Aversions?

In the beginning it was the worst for me. I couldn't even cook dinner. My m/s was also the worst at night around dinner time. As I got further along & the m/s subsided I found it easier to get back cooking. Before that we did a lot of take out, panera soup for me.
Most of my early aversions are gone now. Sometimes things will just turn me off here & there. Some of my aversions "pork" Chat Icon are still there. Not happening. Hang in there most of it will fade as you get further along. Some will prob stay but I promise it gets better. Chat Icon

Totally agree. In the beginning I loved the taste of Snapple ice tea. Now at 19 weeks it taste like sauerkraut to me. Weird I know. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Only certain cheeses make me sick. American cheese, swiss, cheddar Chat Icon

When I can eat I can't get enough of Mozzarella & Feta lately.

I've been craving Mozzarella en Carozza since yesterday.

Re: Food Aversions?

No advice. I am almost 19 weeks and still have an aversion to coffee. Which I really miss. Some days I want certain things and the next day, that thing could make me nauseous. It's crazy. Chat Icon
