hey question about tiles and radiant heat, can you put radiant heat in a floor that isn't a cement slab? like we have a ranch and our kitchen we plan to expand slightly and make completely open leaving no room for heating in that area. I was thinking of doing radiant heat but we have a basement under us.
Good question. My basement doesn't go under the part where my radiant heat is...hmmmm....?
I believe you can, they just have to mud the floor to lay the coils
Yes you can....do the hydronic so its not as expensive to run....electric radiant can be expensive. And there are lots of options out there now....one system come with special plywood that is grooved out for the tubing and the plywood is nailed to the floor which eliminates the mud.
Also you can put wood over the radiant heat but best to use an engineered wood flooring system. I have radiant in my entire 1st floor and we are putting mostly wood with tile only in kitchen and bath.
