So nervous! Q about 12 Week Ultrascreen...
I had my 12 week ultrascreen today and i dont want to read into things too much, but the tech kept measuring the "skin behind the neck" (in her words) over and over again on both babies (also called the NT measurement).
At one pt, I asked her if there was something wrong bc she kept measuring then zooming in and out and measuring the same thing and she just brushed me off, but i cant help but wonder why she had to keep measuring??? I know that they measure the fluid in that area to check for Down Syndrome, but the largest measurement she got was about 1.4 mm I believe (the numbers ranged from .8-1.4 when she was checking). I checked online and I read anything over 2.5 is of concern.
I know I am not paranoid bc when we left I mentioned this to DH and he said that he didnt want to worry me, but he noticed that she kept measuring it over and over again too....
I asked her if there was anything wrong again before we left and she said that the Dr will discuss everything with me in about a week. I cant believe I have to wait a week...I am so nervous.
Does anyone have any info on this??? My ultrascreen with DS was a few years ago so i obviously cant remember all the details, but i dont remember the tech measuring that area for so long

don't worry until you have to (I KNOW that is easier said than done)
maybe she was trying to get the right angle for the meaurements

Please don't worry. My sono tech checked that area quite a few times, as well, and she told me the smaller the space, the better it is and that ours was really small, but that she liked to check over and over to make sure her measurements were correct. I think it's just thoroughness, not anything else

The test is mainly to measure that one area, so I'm 100% sure she was just getting the most accurate measurements and checking her work since it is a tough area to pinpoint since the baby(ies) move so much. Mine doc/tech did this both times, and my OB does measurements more than once on sonos and seems to take the average.

No, don't worry about it! They're supposed to take a lot of measurements, and your measurements are definitely within range. They did the same for me when I got my ultrasound at 11 weeks and again today for my 20 week...but this time, they kept measuring the heart and that got DH a bit nervous. But everything is normal with our baby and I think the same goes for you

I remember them taking tons of measurements. I didn't pay attention to the area specifically but the tech did take tons of measurements.
