I need the LIF fashionistas to rule in this case of trashy or not trashy
ok, someone in my family bought a strapless, knee-length formal party dress, its mostly black with a small turquiose detail. She also bought black peep-toe high heels and she told me she wants to wear black stockings. She is young (under 20)
what's your opinion on this fashion statement? Yes or no?

I don't like the word trashy. But I wouldn't wear peep toe shoes with stockings. I just think it ruins the cuteness and the point of the shoes.

i honestly feel most outfits are "trashy" based not on the clothes themselves, but by how much skin is left bare.

Trashy, no, but I do think it is a fashion faux pas to wear stockings with open-toed shoes.

Not trashy, just ugly-IMO hosiery with peep toes is a fashion faux pas!

If she is under 20 it really doesn't sound age appropriate to me, especially if it is suppose to be some what formal.
If you take away the stockings I feel like the outfit might be a little to sexy for a teen.

i've seen black opaque tights worn with peep toe shoes slowly become "acceptable"... reg black stocking are a no go though.

I don't know...I've seen a lot of ladies pull off seamless tights/hose with peep toes...I haven't done it myself. As others can tell, I feel very strongly about bare legs in the winter, so imo I feel that a seamless tight is a better option than bare legs!

Re: I need the LIF fashionistas to rule in this case of trashy or not trashy
I have done seamless tights w/ peep toes - If you pick up any magazine you'll see it -
But tights are totally different from hose, with a 'formal' cocktail dress and peep toes - BAD idea !!! Lose the hose or get a closed toe shoe -
i don't know if I'd call the look 'trashy' for a young girl, but the dress sounds more 'cutsey' ........I don't like black hose on anyone really .......so I'd ditch those -
