Furrier recommendations

I inherited a mink coat from my aunt and need to have some adjustments made to it. Does anyone know if there is a really good furrier anywhere on LI or in the city somewhere?

(I understand the concept of wearing fur is controversial. If you feel the need to debate wearing fur, though, can you please start a different thread? I'd prefer not to have a thread about something I inherited from a close relative I miss dearly turn into a debate.)

Chat Icon I am SO kidding. Can you contact the fur department at Macy's in Manhasset? I bet they would have a recommendation.

I would find a privately owned store front and see who they recommend.

Re: Furrier recommendations

There is a place in plainview i don't remember the road but the road connects old country road and the service road to the LIE. It is the side road one right before the LOng island Vet hosp and pc richards. If its convient for you i will fing the street name.

He does his own work right there in his shop.

That's convenient to me. If you know the name of the shop or the street, that would be great! Thanks!

Newton Road.

It connects old country road and the service road. If you drive down the road you will see a sign for discount furs or something like that on one of the side roads.

there is also another fur shop on jerchio tpk tucked in the corner of a strip of stores. east of round swamp road i believe in umbertos parking lot.

sorry i don't have more specific information

Re: Furrier recommendations

I need to do this too...so please let me know where you go

I have my mom's mink...it's way to big on me and has 80's puff shoulders- I would love to get it reworked into something for me

Re: Furrier recommendations

John Pappas Furs. I think that at least 1 or 2 of his stores went out of business but he used to be very reputable. The owner of Eva's dress shops is his ex-wife and their locations are still next to each other. If worse comes to worse, I would even call one of her shops to ask. I am sure she is still selling dresses to the "fur set."

I hope I was helpful. I figured I would answer because I knew of someone even though I have to say I do not know what I would do if I inherited a fur. I do not think I could wear one. However, I am wondering how different it is from inheriting a diamond knowing that at one time most of the US supply was from places where they exploited workers terribly. I have 2 inherited diamonds, no way to track that and the sentimental value at this point is priceless.

Superior Furs in Manhasset is great. They're on Northern Blvd. in the same shopping center as Wedding Salon.
