RE Lawyer,... paid after review of contract?!?!

Our lawyer reviewed our contract. We have a meeting with him on Tuesday. We were told to bring out checkbook. I failed to remind DH to ask if the amount he gave was for him to come to the closing too. He told us 900,... that means he will come to the closing too right?

It is a short sale so we have to sign and get bank approval before we go to contract.

I am so new to this! Thanks again LADIES!

When we signed the contract we put down $5,000 towards the down payment. that might be what he meant. We aren't paying our attorny until we close.

OH, and yes, he will be at the closing, ordering your termite inspection, title, survey, etc. The check is most likely the check that you write to the other attorney (the sellers attorney) as part of your downpayment.

I emailed him to see if we needed to bring the down payment costs or his fee.

I need to transfer the funds so I need to know.

you will probably need both the down payment and at least a portion of the fee.

We paid our atty 1/2 at signing and we also gave him the deposit check because that goes with the contract over to the sellers atty

We paid our lawyer 1/2 up front and the rest at closing. She was at the closing also. HTH.

You will need to write a check for your downpayment amount and depending on your attry may need to pay 1/2 his fee now. The $900 sounds like his total fee for everything from contracts to closing
