PLEASE!!!! We need a miracle!!! **Update #2--10/24/...Not Good :(**
This is Jen. A fabulous young lady I met through St. Baldricks--she is one of the kids honored at our Northport event. This is a piece of her St. Baldricks page... "I was diagnosed at age 14. The type of cancer I was diagnosed with is extremely rare and the doctors seem to believe that I'm the only person to have this type of cancer in the US. It's called Lepto Meningeal Sarcoma. I was in remission for 2 years and in 2008 the cancer was back. I am currently back in treatment. One thing that I have gained from this whole experience of cancer is that I have a passion for fundraising for any type of cancer related foundations. I am also a big fan of NASCAR and basically all types of motorsports."
Jen needs a miracle. Shes back in the hospital. Her brain tumor is growing even with the chemo. The doctors have said there is nothing else they can do but to make her comfortable. She's only 19 and such a vital part of the St. Baldricks family.
Please please please..say a prayer, keep her in your thoguhts....anything. We're desperate!!!!
****************************** Update-10/22/09 an email I received: Hi April, Went back and forth with Jens dad John. He is going to see Dr. Atlas at LIJ who heads up the neuro oncology unit there. His boss Dr. Jeff Lipton is on the Board of STB and they are very aware of Jen and her history as well has how much she has been involved with us. They are going to review everything and see what they can offer. There is a clinical trial at CHOP as a last resort unless JOhn can convince Dr. Atlas to try it off trial here on Long Island for Jen. In the meantime they are trying to get her to eat. I am hoping they will allow me to see her soon. If so, I will let you know and maybe we can make some cards and a basket of goodies of some sort to cheer her up. Your prayers are working!!! Willl keep you updated!!!
