Gas Meter Inside or Outside?
I went to lunch for a few of my coworkers the other day. Somehow it came up that I needed to call in my gas reading since my gas meter was inside.
All of my coworkers were shocked since their gas meters were outside. Are your gas meters inside or outside?
I was curious if anyone has moved their meter outside. If so, did you have to pay National Grid or did they do it themselves?
Our house made in the 1920s and is located in Nassau County.

Outside. I am glad because I never have to let someone in to read the meter or fill in a card with the reading on it.
Our water meter is inside, but they have a reader on the outside of the house, so they don't have to come in for that either.
ETA: Not sure when either thing was done, since they were like that when we bought the house. I suspect our house was not originally gas heat and it was probably done when it was converted to gas.

our meter is outside. I "think" you can call National Grid and ask them to move it. Its more convient for them to be able to read an outside one rather than making an appointment to come into your home

Inside, in the basement. They've been by twice in two years, so it's never been a concern of mine. They usually just come knock on the door on a Saturday, I show them down, they read it, and go away.

outside, but we just had ours converted 2 years ago. They didn't even ask if we wanted it in or out. I'm glad it's outside.

Outside but we just converted last month. They still have to ring my bell. The gates to my backyard are locked.

My meter is outside. We live in Suffolk County.
My mom's meter is inside, in the basement. She lives in Queens.

Ours is outside, but it's in a side yard, that is locked and you can't get access unless we open it up for them. So each month, my DH reads the meter, and enters the data in right on thier website (we have an online acct with Nat Grid). Really helps keep their estimates down, and our cost down.
