how old was your DC when they sat up and..

Drank from a sippy cup?

Not for me (DS is only 10 wks!) But for my SILs twin boys. They are 7 months and were 6 wks premature. She tried giving them a sippy cup and neither wanted anything to do with it. And neither of them sit up yet. ??

DS sat up at 6 months (on his six month birthday) and really drank from a sippy at 12 months.

I think at that point, milestones should still be adjusted, so they are really only 5.5 months, so for sitting, they are fine.

As for the sippy, they are really just for practice under 1 yr old

DS was sitting up early, around 4-5 months. But he really had ni interest in a sippy cup for a long time. Probably closer to 1. I know that lots of kids don't sit up until 6-7 months and since her twins were six weeks early, they still have atleast a month-two months before she should worry at all. That being said, she should try propping them up as often as possible to start helping them gain the muscle control to be able to do it on their own.

DD was 7 weeks early.

She sat up at 9 months, which would be 7 months , full term.

But don't let that discourage you (your sister) All babies do things at their own pace.

She was literally just laying down one day at the beach and just sat right up. DH and I were amazed!

DS started trying to sit up at 6 months, but could not do it really well until 7 months - even then he still fell down!

he wanted nothing to do with a sippy Chat Icon until he was 10+ months. now he refuses bottles for his sippy cup! i had to experiment to find the one he loved.

DS does a lot better with a regular cup than a sippy cup. He drinks perfectly if I hold it up to his lips and tilt it for him. With a sippy cup he just gnaws on the spout. He's 9 months now.

DD sat up at 5 months. Somewhere between 6 and 7 months we introduced a sippy for practice. Now at 8 months she drinks water from it really well during lunch and dinner.

Samantha was sitting up (but still wobbly) around 5 months. It wasn't until 6.5 months that I felt comfortable putting her down on the floor and walking away without worrying she would topple over. She really sits so nicely and has such ladylike posture Chat Icon she cannot yet PUT herself into a sitting position from laying down or on her belly. (She's 8 months old).

As far as a sippy cup, I KNOW she can hold it and knows what to do with it, but she really could care less about it, so I don't push the issue.

Kaydyn started sitting up propped around 5 months. Could sit unsupported for hours at a time around 6 months.

We tried sippy cups around 7-8 months and she was able to drink out of the straw ones right away. Then about 2 months later she stopped having interest in them.

DD#1: sat up tripod style(with hands for support) at 3 months old. She could sit with no support or tipping over 5 days shy of 5 months old. She drank straw sippy cups by 7 months old.

DD#2: sat tripod stay at 2 months old and could even sit with no support at that age for a few seconds at a time and full time sitter at 4 months old. She started stealing her sister's straw sippy and drinking it by 5 months old.

DS sat up tripod style at around 6m. At 6.5m, he could sit up by himself for a while but would tip over. Now he is 1 week shy of 7m and can sit up unassisted.
