Molluscum- anyone's child ever have this

My DS has been breaking out with this pimple-like rash over the weekend. My husband took him to the Dr. this Am and the dr. diagnosed it as molluscum. She said it is very common and will usually disappear in a few months. If it starts to blister she wants to see him. She said since he is only 14 months only to leave it alone for now but if he was older she would send him to the dermotologist. Does anyone have any experience with this? and advice?

My 4 year old DD has this rash too. We were told that it could take anyware from 6 months to a year for it to completly go away and it is best to leave it alone. I am waiting on an appointment with a ped derm to see if there is any perscription ointment to help it, but I beleive the only other real course of action is to have them removed which I heared can scar and hurts.

For my DD she has about 6 small areas were the bumps show up and if she scratchs them, they do blister and hurt more, we have tried various over the counter creams to help with the itch but I dont think any really helped.

I would be curious if anyone here came across any natural remedies that have helped.

I am hoping they go away sooner them later!

yes, my dd has it. We were prescribed a cream for it...but she cried everytime we applied it and it burned the skin....but it did work. Unfortunately they are multiplying and there are new ones. We were told that they spread and open up when they are wet...so everytime she goes swimming or takes a bath we cover them with aquaphor to help prevent them from spreading. Apparently they do go away, but she's had them for at least a year and they are still there.

My son had it and it did go away. I think it took a year. He has two scars from it.

The dermatologist can "burn" (I think it's actually freezing) them off. But at his age I definitely wouldnt recommend that at all....

My girls had it and it took longer than 6 months for it to go away. Im thinking closer to a year...

The cream doesnt actually help with the blisters but it will help with the dry shin part that can surround the blisters...

It is really one of those things though that only time will heal...

Thanks ladies for your responses! I put a call into the Dr. and am waiting to hear back. Do I or my husband need to be careful? What about the other children at daycare? From what I am reading my son has a severe case...he has them on both hands and his calves. He doesn't seem bothered by them but they are gross! I am probably more bothered than him. If I go see a ped dermotologist, doesn't anybody have any recommendations? I don't know what to do????
