Less Expensive Breast Pump option desired

I just registered and BRU and selected the only one I saw, Medella for $279. This is my first and will be our only child. I want to give breast feeding my all, but hate to spend or think of someone else spending this amount for a pump that may only be used for a few weeks on one child. Any less expensive ideas???

I know you can rent them from the hospital. Not sure if that is something you would do.

You can also ask around if any of your friends have one you can borrow. You would just need to get all new tubing for it.

you can rent one from bru... i personally found that the hand pump was very time consuming and painful.... would you consider a single electric which is half the price?

Yes, I would consider a single electric one. I do not want to use the hand one at all. If all goes with with the breast feeding, I am going to do it when I return to work and need the electric. I wish i knew someone selling the dual pump...I could just buy all new accessories and be done with it.

Try E-bay or Craigslist. I've been stalking both of them for awhile but I'm probably going to wait until after I deliver before buying one.

There is the ameda purely yours if you search online that is electric and cheaper than medela and it is rated in baby bargains just as good...the only thing is I don't think you can register for it-its not sold in bru or bbb...this is one i am looking into-but i will buy it after the baby is born when i see if breastfeeding works out...

Re: Less Expensive Breast Pump option desired

I found the ameda purely yours on line with a $25 coupon and free shipping...works out to be about $125 +tx...much better than the Medella at $279. I am going to remove it from my registry and I will probably look into buying it right after the baby is born, as suggested, once i see how the breast feeding goes.

Thank you all for your posts...what a savings.

You can try the Lansinoh Double Electric as well. I have it & it works great. It's the same as the Ameda Purely Yours just purple & sold under a different name. Amazon had it recently for about $100.
