Spin-off to Mosquito Bites Post

Has anyone noticed that the mosquitoes (or other biting bugs) are really bad right now?

We've almost stopped going outside to play. Any time of day, if I stand in one spot I get bit. After 4pm I can't even go to the mailbox without getting a bite. All of my neighbors are complaining of the same thing.

I can't wait for a frost!!!

I think it is worse this year than other years. All my kids have been covered with bites all summer, including the baby. My dad claims that every however many number of years the mosquitoes are worse, and that this year is the year. Like cicadas, I guess.

Re: Spin-off to Mosquito Bites Post

Funny you should post this, I was just talking to my dad about this about an hour ago. It is sooo bad, we can't go out either. Poor Ella (only 6 months) has 4 bites on her head and a few on the arm for being out 20 mins the other day. ARGH!!

My dad also said because it was a cool & wet summer they are worse this year. They will go away after it gets cold and we get a frost.

My dad he is getting something next year that the Navy uses and runs on propane that you put in the corner of your property. I am going to have to find out more about it since I don't want to spray because of the chemicals around the kids. My dad said I could also go online and buy ladybugs. I laughed and he said if I don't believe him check it out, but you can buy like a 1000 or something and they will eat them! Then you have to worry about all these ladybugs everywhere, lol.

I feel ike the mosquitos have been bad this whole summer - but, the bees - particularly the yellow jacks (i think they are called) - have been EVERYWHERE the past week - it is making me crazy!
