if you have sold something on craigs list ?

Do you let the person into your house to see the item ?

I've only bought one item & the person had it out on their lawn.


I have someone coming to look at a computer desk I posted, not sure of the usual protocol.

I've had peopel come into my home, I live in an apt and I try to move whatever I am selling into the foyer.

I only do it when DH is home with me.

When we were moving, we had no choice, we let someone come into our bedroom and buy a dresser from us.

I have sold A BUNCH of stuff, never had any problems.

My parents have done it and it's never been a problem.

I have something to list and I'm going to move it to my unfinished basement first, that can only be accessed from outside. But that's also because, if it doesn't sell, it can stay in the basement in the meantime.

I would not have someone come while DH wasn't home.

I sold a couch. DH was home, it was a big sectional and the people did come into our living room. Turned out he was a nice guy with his kids. I guess he could have been Craigs list killer & come back later.

It was a piece of excercise equipment and my husband brought it outside. I'd be weary about letting someone off craigslist come into my house.

I sold a twin bdrm set and was skeptical about allowing someone into my apt. alone so I made sure DH was home just in case and the set was moved out of bedroom.

I didn't sell anything on Craigs List but I did rent out a room. And yes, they came in and saw the house.
I've purchased stuff from Craigs List and most of them greeted me outside. I waited at the curb while they get the item from the house. Then they helped me load it in my car.

we sold our car and had BIL do it for us at the entrance to his apt complex so no addresses involved

if you are uncomfortable with strangers in your home (i would be) then move the item to the garage.

I sold everything in my old apartment

I let the people come in- 2nd floor walk up

I felt safe b/c I no longer lived there and you could tell

plus I had neighbors upstairs and down and I left the door open

I must of had 20 people come by- not one issue or 1 person that freaked me out
