Need Opinion on 1st bday party - UPDATED w/Decision
We are thinking of having her 1st bday party the same day of my block party. We have 90 ppl invited so at least with a block party we can have ppl in the back and front yard since space is limited.
My concern was that I felt like the block party would take away from Katie a little bit. Ppl might be around by the DJ or down the block doing other stuff. I kinda wanted all the focus on Katie, KWIM? Granted, we don't have much to do in our backyard, no swing set or anything but i was going to set up a kiddie pool and get some toys. I dunno. Maybe I am being silly. It would be a whole lot easier to have one party instead of doing a separate block party then 1st bday.

thanks everyone. We decided that we are going to split the group. We are going to have all our friends (30ppl) over for the block party/1st bday, it will be very casual. Then the next weekend we will have a seperate party for our family.
thanks for the advice, it just wasn't sitting well with me to have 90 ppl scattered all over the place for Katie's party.

On one hand, I think it might take the day away from her, but on the other had, you have entertainment all set. And she's not really going to remember her first birthday, so taking the focus off of her won't be a big deal.
I say go for it! Just make sure everyone is around to sing happy birthday to her!

I think with 90 people there will be plenty of focus on Katie even with a block party. I think your guests will have so much more fun with the extra excitement going on.

I would too. It's nice to have all that entertainment there but you will see your guests drift off in doing other things so you can't be uspet if you can't find people around cake time. Also 90 people is a lot and they might be annoyed at the limited parking or having to walk quite a length to get to your house. If it were me I would plan on a different day and you don't have to go crazy with entertainment, do what you can the day is about her and everyone should focus on her not entertainment down the block.
