OK Ladies over 30- please come in to discuss foundation
So I've been a big advocate of Bare Minerals for years now. But I've been reading a lot of things lately saying that these mineral makeups can actually age you and settle into fine lines, etc, exagerating them.
And to be honest, I have been noticing lately that this is probably true. I feel like now that I have some fine lines, that the mineral make up is making me look older.
I thnk it's too matte and kind of makes my skin look dry or something. (I have combination skin, and I do still break out, so its not like I have overly dry skin to begin with or anything).
Either way, I feel like I need somethign that gives me more of a moist, dewey look if you know what I mean.
I have always hated liquid foundation- I feel like it looks and feels like a mask and it used to just sink into my pores and make them look bigger, etc. I do need some coverage though- as I have some acne scars, red spots, etc.
Any recommendationsfor a foundation from the over 30 crowd here?
TIA!!

I use Lorac foundation and powder. It's available at Sephora. I love it! I am 41 and have very sensitive skin and I have been using it now for 6 months with great results.

I use the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. I've never used foundation.. but this gives my skin a smooth healthy look... not cakey or matte.. very natural.

Re: OK Ladies over 30- please come in to discuss foundation
I'm going through the foundation trial and error too. I don't know if my Retin-A treatment is making my fine lines more noticeable or if my kids are just aging me that quickly.
I like the MUFE Face & Body Foundation, but sometimes I feel like it's too light in coverage.
I wish I had a good experience with the LM Tinted Moisturizer, but it made me breakout and I wasn't impressed with the coverage. My sister uses the Oil Free version and her makeup looks great, same with my FSIL (but my FSIL is in her 20s. )
I've been meaning to give the Armani foundation a try.
I've tried a couple of the Chanel foundations, but the fragrance they put in it makes me want to gag. And of course they discontinued my favorite foundation last year.

I use the oil free one too... i'm 30... and I think it gives great coverage!! I don't use a moisturizer under it.. just eye cream, then this...

Re: OK Ladies over 30- please come in to discuss foundation
I used Neutrogena Skin Clearing foundation for years and loved it -- but as I got older my skin changed (more red ) and the shades no longer work.
Lately I've been using Make Up For Ever's Mat Velvet followed by their HD powder and like it a lot. The foundation is medium coverage, so sometimes I mix it with a little moisturizer for a more sheer look.
I have very very VERY oily skin, so I really need a matte foundation.

Isn't Retin-A supposed to help diminish wrinkles? I just bought a Retinol wrinkle treatment- now I'm worried...

I Love MAC's foundation. Sometimes I will use the Clinique power, but MAC is my favorite.

Re: OK Ladies over 30- please come in to discuss foundation
Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer sort of sunk into my pores when I tried it on at Sephora.
I use Physican's formula mineral powders, but I agree, sometimes they look too dry.
I really like Maybelline Mineral Power foundation. It is a liquid, but it's light & it doesn't make me break out, but it covers & isn't dry or cakey looking.

Yes, but over time. I was told it can take over a year before you see a difference. I think my wrinkles are more exaggerated b/c my skin is still dry from the treatment...plus i think the wacky weather isn't helping. Just when I thought I saw a difference, it got cold again and I felt like they got more noticeable.
Plus I also started using RoC with retinol (although a minimal amount) as my daily moisturizer, so that may be contributing my skin's dryness.

Re: OK Ladies over 30- please come in to discuss foundation
I have been using Laura Mercier foundation for almost 4 years. In the summer i usually wear her tinted moisturizer. I have used the regular and oil free. I feel like the oil free gives a little more coverage. I just ordered the "Illuminating" version. I used a sample I had and really liked it - it gave just a touch of sheen without looking shiny or greasy.
ETA - i also just recently bought a powder foundation from Smashbox. I have only used it a few times, but I like it as well.
Description from Beauty.com:

And you find it covers your acne scars enough? I always worried that tinted moisturizer wouldn't provide enough coverage for my awful skin. I'm curious to find out if it covers your scars well enough! Let me know

I don't have any acne scars, but it def covers a blemish if I have one. My skin is a bit uneven when I'm not tan in the summer, this def evens out my skin tone.
I think you should try it.. can't hurt.. if you don't like it, you can return it...
I've heard the oil free one provides more coverage.. that's the one I use because my t-zone tends to get oily through-out the day. I've never tried the other formula.

Re: OK Ladies over 30- please come in to discuss foundation
I have been using Bare Escencials too for years and last year it was just not working out for me either. So I tried the organic physicians formula. What a mistake! I still used it. But really started to limit my use of foundation all together. I vowed to never use liquid foundation so I cannot go back to that. My skin is so much better without this stuff.
I finally finished the left over crapola of the other brand. I wanted to try the mineral powder one from Laura Mercier since it has great reviews. But last month I found myself going back to the Bare Escencials and it looks great again. So after taking a long break from it, it is working for me again.

I use a liquid makeup from Lancome. I really like it and it is a great match for my skin. I don't think it is heavy coverage but I can see a difference from before to after. I don't use it every day but I probably should .

Just went back to using my MUFE Liquid Lift and although it's doesn't offer full-coverage, I was happy with it. I found it didn't settle into fine lines, nor look cakey. I used the MUFE High Definition Powder over it. Thumbs up from me!

Usually tinted moisturizer does not cover my scarring but I feel like this one in the oil free formula does. I would just get it from Sephora, you can always return it! Good luck!
