Phlox
I want to plant PHLOX perennials on both sides of my walkway, but I haven't been able to find them at a nursery where they are inexpensive.
Does anyone know where I can get them and not pay a lot?
One place in Bellmore had plox in a container for $11.00 The woman said I could cut the root down the middle and separate the flowers, but I need 68 feet worth of the flowers, and I would end up spending a lot if I got it from there. Thanks, Scott

Re: Phlox
I bought Phlox in Costco. It was the bulbs not actual plants. I think it was $13 for 15 roots/bulbs.

Re: Phlox
Starkie brothers in farmingdale (southern state to rte 110 north, make first left on main(?) st by Ace and Burger King) take down and is on the right hand side. i was just there last weekend, they had really nice ones there i think they were in the 4 for $20.00 section. if you could cut them down the middle i would think you would need 8 for each side, which isn't terrible. $80.00 for the whole walkway.
Also, the guy there was so knowledgeable, he may have a better solution.
Although,i think those would look gorgeous down the walkway.

I would try Hick's nursey on Jericho TPKE in Westbury. They have great prices on plants.

Re: Phlox
Also - how many inches do you usually leave inbetween plantings? I know they spread.....
I also hear that they grow a fungus....from mildew...so there is a type that is recommended that doesnt grow a fungus and that one is called Paniculata David - it is mildew free.
I have to see if they sell that one. If not I will have to buy the fungus spray.
