Gift questions

Not sure which board this belongs on...but I'll give this one a shot.

I'm leaving for Italy at the end of May. We will be seeing family members through out the trip.

One of my cousins will be picking us up from the train station & taking us around for a few days.

My aunt said its not necessary - but I would like to bring some gifts from here to them...to say thank you.

I'm just unsure as to what would be good. My cousin is 34 - I have no idea what kind of music he listens to, what his style is - nothing.

His son is 4 years old. What do 4 year olds here in America like?

Also I'm a bit weery on spending alot of $$ on him because his mother is somewhat of a "hippie" (according to my aunt in Italy) & she prefer that he not have toys or cothes given to him - that it would spoil him Chat Icon

She gives most of the gifts away to her friends children (again this is what my aunt says).

I guess something small for the mother as well...although she doesn't sound too appreciative from the other stories I've heard. Figure I'll be the better person and bring her a little something.

I just wanted to bring something to show our appreciation. Any ideas?

Re: Gift questions

What about clothes for the little boy?

At least that's practical and maybe the mom won't give those away....

Re: Gift questions

coloring books with crayons or something creativity related?

Crayola has US-themed activity books (US Leaders, US States) but I'm not sure how involving they would be for a 4yo. He could get a jumpstart on learning about the US.
