When did your baby smile for the first time?
DS is 6 weeks old and I know the time frame is anywhere from 5 to 8 weeks but he's still not smiling and it was the first question the doctor asked today so of course now I am all stressed about it.
I have been trying all day to make him smile and he is just staring at me like I'm nuts!
Just needed some reassurance.

Every baby is different. Alexa smiled the first time on her 1 month birthday.
She is 6 weeks now and is smiling mroe and more each day.
Don't worry he will smile soon!!

7 weeks or so was a big turning point for us. She suddenly started smiling a lot when she was awake, started cooing a lot, and even started sleeping 5-6 hr stretches at night, all in the same week. My DS didn't really smile much till about 7 1/2 weeks too.

My DD has just started smiling on occasions besides gassiness and sleepiness. It is rare, but so beautiful!

i think he smiled for the first time around 6 weeks BUT i didn't really realize it, or i didn't think it was a true smile... i noticed a real difference at 8 weeks and he hasn't stopped smiling since!!!
