2 Questions for those that delivered at Winthrop
1. Does anyone know the cost of a private room? (Is it necessary?)
2. Also, what is the deal with who is allowed in the delivery room with you?

I believe the cost of a private room is $250/night. Well worth it!
In terms of who can be with you in the delivery room- I think they told us it could be your SO and 1 other person.

I had a c/s and was there 5 nights and our privateroom bill came to $840....no idea why it was lower then quoted..they billed us.

250 a night but def worht every penny, i was so much more comfortable!!!!!:) I think your allowed 2 people for natural birth

It was $200 or $250, I can't remember. Definitely worth it to me. The first 2 nights I shared a room. The first night was fine - my roomie was real quiet. Then she left and I was stuck with a total loudmouth. I heard her birth story literally 50 times. She kept putting the lights on in the middle of the night and was just a total pain in the a$$. It was like she was the only person who ever gave birth. I asked for a private room because of her. I spent the next 2 nights in a private room and it was so much better. Plus, it was better for when you had guests over too.
I had a C section, so only DH was allowed with me, but had it been vaginally I could have had DH and another person.

Personally, I didn't think it was worth the $ for the private room. My roommate wasn't a problem and I preferred to use the $ for other things. I guess it could also depend on what time you delivery too. Yeah, they let DH and 1 other person into the delivery room but my nurses were so nice and snuck my mother in for a visit 2x!

It was $220 per night in 2007.
Vaginal delivery: allowed 2 people not including yourself
C-section: only 1 person allowed not including yourself.

1) It was somewhere between 200-250. I loved it. I was in no mood to deal with other peoples visitors etc.
2) It was SO and one other person.

They didn't have private rooms available when I delivered the first time. The second time I didn't want a private room...too much $$$. Thank God my roommate was quiet.
