Re: Charlotte NC

28277Chat Icon its the best. unfortuately I can only afford to rent here.

I like this site
link

close to the city...Dilworth, Midwood Plaza, Elizabeth, South Park.

north...Huntersville, Davidson

We are 99% sure that we are buying in Waxhaw. Its 9 miles south of me currently. Its doable since DH does not work in the city.

Different strokes for different folks.

My #1 is walking. I am the ultimate pedestrian. Its the NYer in me. I need sidewalks, somewhere to walk to. I lived in South Park, Huntersville, Ballantyne...eventually Waxhaw. I can walk to anything that I need.

#2 safety. Some areas are shady. I am home alone almost every night. I don't need any problems.

#3 transplants. I need people around me in my situation. Waxhaw is tons and tons of transplants. Ballantyne is transplant central.

#4 schools. So many negatives go into schools down here...you have to keep an open mind. In 28277, schools are great. South Park has Myers Park schools...fantastic. Boundries are ever changing. Tons and tons of private schools and academies. A really great selection of free charter schools(which I love...launguage based or art based schools)
Ballantyne Elem is brand new. Waxhaw schools are new...

I am not completely sold on Charlotte, I will be honest. But, they have tons of nice ammenties. We have Greenways all over, perfect for walks.

good luck!

If you are looking at fairly new homes with 2 car garages under 150K...its too good to be true. IMHO. you are giving up something somewhere.

Re: Charlotte NC

then 28277. the only bad part is the commute to the city....its long during traffic.

Seriously, I walk everywhere. Someone is always out pushing a stroller, biking, dog walking....it must be one of the healthiest blocks in the country.

Its ultra suburbia...with benefits.

DH and I looked at beautiful townhouses in Stallings, in Union County. They are called Wendover. If you go to Carolinahome.com (no s after home) and put in townhouses and Union County, you will see them. They are in the mid-high 100's. You will get great deals on them now.

I hope the encomony picks up soon so DH can get his job transfer and we can move there. I can't wait. We will rent first.

FM me if you have any ?s. I have several friends who live in the Charlotte vicinity and have visited quite a few times. I'm going there again in 14 days.

Re: Charlotte NC

We've been looking at Charlotte NC for sometime now. We have friends that live in 28277 (Piper Glen) which is one of the many beautiful neighborhoods. We looked at homes in Waxhaw as well. Very nice!

The site below has been very helpful for us. It's a forum specific to Charlotte, NC. Anything you could ever want to know about Charlotte can be found here,
