Daycare advice for the Seaford area?
Hi all!
I am new around here - I am going to be 14 weeks along tomorrow! I hope this is the right place for this post (and I apologize if it's redundant to old ones).
I just had my meeting with HR to discuss maternity leave and it reminded me that I should probably start researching daycare centers for the baby. Both my husband and I work in Manhattan and unfortunately, for the time being, being a SAHM isn't an option (much to our dismay). Our family members also work or have busy lives and though I know they would probably love to help, I can't rely on them unfairly or unrealistically. So, it seems that daycare is going to be our only real option.
Since this is our first child and we moved to Seaford in August, I have no idea what my choices are when it comes to daycare in the area. Would anyone here from the neighborhood have any opinions? I don't have any real requirements other than that they have decent hours and that they can handle infants because I'll probably have to go back to work right around the 3 month mark. Well, and the obvious requirement that they are clean and have nice people working there
Thanks a bunch!
Kim

Re: Daycare advice for the Seaford area?
Sorry to bump an old thread, but I thought I'd check in again with everyone about their opinions.
I have not physically visited day cares in the area yet but plan to do so pretty soon. I have a few on my plate and wanted to see what you all thought:
Our Redeemer in Seaford : Got recommendations from some of the gals here and it sounds great. The only problem is, they never return my calls for an appointment! I am getting frustrated with them prematurely and feel like if they can't even call me back, how will they be as a center? But, I trust the opinions of those who suggested them and want to give them a fair shake. They are also very very close to my house, so it makes it a practical no-brainer.
Teachers Pets in Wantagh: Also heard that this was a nice place but I don't have any solid info on them. They are a bit further from my house/the train station (but only a few miles away). However, I do see they are appx. $40 a week cheaper than Our Redeemer, so it might be worth saving the $ for just a few more minutes in the car. They told me I can just pop in for a tour any day I want, which is nice.
Little Rascals in Massapequa: They seem to be the priciest I've come across, but they are also open an hour longer than the others (I think). Which might make it worth it for me because I work in Manhattan. Also, I would be driving away from the city by 10 minutes or so, which turns me off slightly. However, I figure I can make up for this by just getting on the train in Massapequa as opposed to driving back to Seaford.
Any thoughts? Thanks again, I really do appreciate it!
