Has anyone ever looked for work while 6mths pregnant?
I don't think it's realistic of me to think a job / any job would hire me, but I'm starting to feel like I need to do something. I've TRIED looking at this lay off like I'm on early leave, but the reality is that my salary is 1/2 of what it was and bills need to be paid.
Am I crazy?

Honestly, I think that it's not too realistic to look for a new job this late in the game.

maybe something at a local store or resturant, just to get you through the next few months- or a temp agency? then look for something steady after the baby is born.

I don't think anyone will hire you now if you go to the company directly....my best suggestion is to go through a temp agency....you can get daily assignments or weekly even. They might even have a monthly position open. I think that is your best bet.

I know at my old company we hired an attorney when she was pregnant. It was during a booming economy though.
I don't know what your skillset is but perhaps you can offer your services on a consulting basis.

Its worth a try, you have nothing to lose by going on interviews. I was interviewing at 5 1/2 months and was hired.
I had been laid off just before I found out I was pregnant and got a job that was horrible shortly after (low pay, bad managment, cell phone was stolen off my desk the first week - just a horrible place). It was such an unhealthly place that I figured I had nothing to lose by looking for something better.
I went for larger companies with HR departments and although it was quite obvious I was pregnant I made it clear in my interview and they were very cool and called me for a 2nd interview within an hour. I just made 3 months at the job and am due in 3 weeks.

It's possible. I know someone who left my firm and got hired somewhere else when she was 6 months pregnant. You do what you have to do!!

Well I'm a teacher & I was hoping to leave one school to move closer to home after my DD was born. I literally was interviewing at 9 months pregnant; unfortunately, I didn't get the 1 job I interviewed for, but I did get the job of the school who called me the morning my water broke for an interview! (I ended up going in a week after DD was born).

wow I'm in the same boat, laid off before I found out.......I agree that you'd be better off with larger companies to possibly get hired. or just try temping with an agency. I'm sorry you're going through this! I know I'm feeling unsettled about being unemployed and I'm only 5 1/2 weeks!
