ok, can someone really tell me b/c I was looking yesterday and I just don't see it
(I am not really sure which way this is going to go bu..............
why icicle lights are the catch phrase for tacky? 
I was looking at lights in Target last night and thought they looked nice the way they had them on the box...
is it b/c of the way people hang them...have I drunk too much of the Kool Aid??
I am not saying I would get them...but they are definitely NOT the most heinous thing I've ever seen...
anyway, this question plagued me ever since...and it's been dull around here so talk to me peeps

There was a very long, very heated, and ultimately deleted thread on this topic last year on the Home board...
After the pages and pages of drama, "icicle lights" became an LIF inside joke for "tacky." NOT because everyone thinks they are tacky but because there was such venomous discussion about their tackiness or lack thereof. Someone on the thread called them "white trash" and "cheap" and "middle class" and then went on to bash china cabinets... Apparently she was way too rich for the rest of us.

my lights are so different this year I am probably tacky...but I do not like the "norm"

I got the new LED icicle lights from Home Depot and made an attempt to put them up last Friday. We got one strand up and realized there was only a plug at one end. So you can only attach 2 strings. I returned them to HOme Depot, my house is wide, I'd need 4 strands and 2 power sources on each side of the house. They said they got alot of complaints about the one-plug issue.
I realize that I digressed from your question..but I don't think it's tacky.
Now, if you have too many "characters" on your front lawn and it looks like "Frosty Goes to Bethlehem"....than I think you should move Frosty to the other side of the yard so it doesn't look like he's visiting the manger.

you should only buy things made in the USA silly. china is for communists.
I am sure you have a "freedom cabinet" instead of an armoire too..those are also very blue collar
