Edible Arrangement for a death....
Do you think its tacky to send that. I dont think flowers are of much use. They just die or they get thrown out. I could do a fruit basket but a lot of people dont eat that either.
What do you think?

Re: Edible Arrangement for a death....
I know when the mother downstairs passed away, I saw the father about two weeks later. He said he was so tired of fruit it was crazy. He was really thankful for all the thoughts and prayers, but fruit was just overrated after a while.
Maybe a donation in the deceaseds behalf instead?

That would be perfect.
I remember when my parents both passed away our house was filled with tons of people it was wonderful that we had some food or fruit to feed them.

When my dad passed, very dear friends ( ) sent me a gift basket of chocolate goodies. I couldn't have been more appreciative.
Also, a friend of my dad's sent my mom a deli platter. Not of just cheeses, etc., but of actual deli sandwiches...it was really great, actually. We appreciated it.

Re: Edible Arrangement for a death....
When my mother passed away, we got 3 huge deliveries from Edible Arrangements and we loved them.
It is kind of ironic because my Mom was a diabetic and would get seriously pizzed off when we would offer her fruit instead of cake or other sweets.

That's what I was thinking. It's a lot of fruit that goes bad quickly. I like the donation suggestion or maybe send over some easy to eat meals.

when my dad passed we got so many there was no way to eat it all before they went bad. We did love them and the thought. Perhaps you can order one to be delivered in like 2 weeks when the dust settles

Re: Edible Arrangement for a death....
Check out Wolfermann's. My ILs sent a HUGE basket to my house and it fed us for four days. It is great because you can just have a muffin and jam for breakfast before running out for a LONG day and we also used it as a snack when we got home. . . we even had to open up the coffee they gave us because we ran out when our guests were still over!

Re: Edible Arrangement for a death....
i think it is extremely appropriate! someone sent an edible arrangement when my friend's father died, since they had people back to the house after the funeral for food it was displayed nicely on the table and it was one less thing for them to worry about getting. i think it's a great idea

Re: Edible Arrangement for a death....
My cousin got one of these when her DH passed away. We were there when it was delivered after the funeral. It was very much appreciated. It also sort of brought a cheery mood, since it's so pretty and people were all looking at it and picking what fruit they wanted.

No I think it is a nice gesture - it gives them something to eat as well as a nice thought.
