An observation of last night in ATL...
I am not into politics, nor have commented on any of the threads regarding either candidate...so I don't want to cause any drama.
Last night really bothered me so maybe this is just a vent but, here in ATL on the network channels, after Obama was announced president NBC showed nothing but young black and elderly individuals partying in local bars and churches...celebrating for 2 hours straight!! I was beside myself!! I literally felt like an outsider and I am a Obama supporter. I am really upset with the local networks and feel so let down. Yes, 95% of the black vote went to Obama but so did 65% of the white vote...why would the local network do that. Maybe my reaction is irrational but it's what I felt and I am normally not touched in this way by something like this.

I felt the same way this morning.
I am an Obama supporter as well and I'm very happy he won. I just hope and pray that the celebrating was for the right reasons (which I am sure it is) and that as President of the country, he will do good things for the country as a whole.

I agree! I think the media made sure that they showed diversity.

I agree, and am thrilled for America and Americans not just African Americans.

Re: An observation of last night in ATL...
True, but this is a benchmark especially for African Americans. There are people who voted yesterday who weren't even allowed to vote in their lifetime, simply because of their skin color. Although this is a joyous occasion for many Americans, it is even more so for many AA.

The BBC has shown a wonderful mix of Americans celebrating Obama's victory, but I would like to hear more about the bar where elderly people were partying.

I agree. I loved the diversity that was shown of the American people and that this was not a "race election".
