HELP needed - sinkhole!
My ILs just had a large sinkhole develop that has swallowed some of their pavers and lawn. They are frantically trying to figure out how to get it filled and fixed. The water company says that it isn't their responsibility since it isn't near a water main. If the sinkhole gets any bigger, their lightpost, which is attached to the steps and constructed with the pavers, is going to fall into the hole.
Has anyone had any experience with anything like this and know who to contact or how to fix it? They are located in the town of Hempstead.
TIA!!

Do they have a septic tank? Have they had it pumped and drained?

That just happened to one of my neighbors, she said they think it was the old septic tank. They are filling it themself. They are on bag 20 of the 40lb bags of top soil and still counting!

Yes seems like a septic tank issue. Unsure how to fix it though.

They don't have a septic tank, never did. They have someone coming to fill it today. Thanks for the replies!
