Baby Shower Games

Are you having any? A friend asked me about that today and I am usually not a "game" person, but was wanted to hear more thoughts on them...

Re: Baby Shower Games

I totally hate them.

I just do not see why they are done.

I feel like my friends and family are perfectly capable of entertaining themselves without the help of a word unscramble, baby bingo or naming baby animals.

I know some people could not imagine having a shower without them, but they are something I can do without.

Re: Baby Shower Games

Some that I have done at Baby Showers that I like...

Baby Shower Bingo (I have a template if anyone needs it)

Price is Right (I really liked this one - you buy a bunch of items off the registry like bottles, paci's, diapers, etc and people have to guess the price)

Set an egg timer and whoever gave you the gift you are opening gets a prize.

--- I am only for them if there is a TON of gifts. Otherwise, I really don't see why people need to be entertained while you are opening a couple of things.

Re: Baby Shower Games

I think it can depend on how big the crowd and the age group ( sometimes the older women get a kick out of bingo etc...) At my BFF shower, in lieu of a game, we put out blank white baby onesies and fabric markers and had everyone decorate her a onesie, then hung them on a clothesline behind her present chair- that gots a lot of laughs out of people....At mine , my SIL bought little tiny plastic babies and froze them in ice-cubes (sounds weird right Chat Icon ) and who's ever baby was "born' first out of the icecube got a prize ( didnt take much effort on the guests part, and everyone was having fun trying to melt the cube- LOL...Another one is very simple- just take a kitchen timer and wind it up when you start opeing presents, who's ever gift is being opened when the buzzer goes off wins a prize ( again no real effort from the guests like baby bingo)...they also have baby shower scratch-offs (those are cute) Chat Icon

Re: Baby Shower Games

I'm usually not a huge fan but I cannot believe how well the games went over at my baby shower. People are competitive by nature and man they were all over each other trying to win!

We did baby bingo, price is right, guessing baby foods, plastic baby in the ice cube, etc.

Other activities were guessing baby pictures of DH and I and our families, writing birthday cards to the baby from 1-18 years, and using fabric markers on onesies to create personalized ones. Everyone had a blast!

There was a lot of gifts...I was opening for hours...so it really helped to break it up.

Re: Baby Shower Games

im not a big fan either - but i also hate to be bored at showers..

i actually just went to ac moore...

they have "how big is mommy" tape that people estimate how big your belly is all around..

i also got blue plastic pacifiers to put into ribbon to make neckalces... if someone says "baby" you take their necklace from them...

baby bingo...

timer during gifft opening..

all winners get a cute prize...

Wanted to add in the "Baby" game my mom did at my shower..it was a hit..

As guests arrived she gave them a pink or blue ribbon (I didn't know what I was having) and had them pin it on.

Throughout the whole shower, if you hear someone say the word "Baby", you go and steal their ribbon.
At the end of the shower, whoever has the most ribbons wins a prize.

So much fun.Chat Icon

I usually hate cheesy games at showers. - But the Ice Cube thing is freakin' hilarious !!!
And the onesie idea is cute too

I can not STAND the game where they make you cut a ribbon the length each guest thinks will fit around the guest of honor's stomach .......Chat Icon Way to make a PG woman feel like sh*t !!!
