Massapequa Home Hunt Saturday!

We have looked in Wantagh, Bellmore and Merrick. The weekend we tackle Massapequa. Please tell me about the town. Shopping, restaurants etc.

We are in Massapequa Park. We love the town and the surrounding area. Lots of little strip malls and Massapequa Park Town is very cute. I can walk to the train, supermarkets, drug store. Lots of restaurants and bars to hang out in as well.

Re: Massapequa Home Hunt Saturday!

Awesome this is my town!!!!

I eat out a lot. but one place we go to very often is paddys loft on 107 just north of jeruselum ave. The food is always amazing.

Shopping....i leave my town to do this, go to roosevelt field, americana, or walt whitman to shop.

The train is very close to my house but not walking distance, its about a 3 minute car ride.
I love CVS, but there is walgreens and riteaid as well.

DH and I are 4 blocks from the train station next to the preserve in Massapequa - I grew up in Seaford and DH in Levittown - We LOVE our location and there are a lot of houses for sale -

We both commute and walk to the train every day -
It's about a45-50 min ride on an express train and the monthly LIRR ticket is $211 -

Re: Massapequa Home Hunt Saturday!

LOVE Mass Pk. We're off Park Blvd, just about 4 blocks north of the village.

The village is getting a mini-facelift, they have a tanning parlor, nail salons, bagel place, delis, 5 and 10, neighborly hardware store, a handful of restaurants, a handful of bars, a post office, dentist, dr office, train sta - all within walking distance.

There's a Ciao Baby's nearby, Friendly's, IHOP, Dunkin Donuts, gift shops, jewelry stores, Kohls, etc. All on Sunrise Hwy - I'd say within a 5 mile radius of the village.

Lots of trees, well kept houses (because it's a village), and near a preserve - great for bike rides with your hubby and future family!

It's a GREAT town.

Hi! I'm new here.

I love Massapequa. We just bought a house in the park about 1.5 miles from the train.

I lived in the park for 16 years before I got married and now my husband and I are moving back. There is also a ton of stuff on Broadway in Massapequa!.

Good luck

Thank you for asking!!! We found some great houses that we do like. Of course none are absolutly perfect but thats ok. The one thing I noticed is the Traffic!!!! Also I realised that its far from my parents in Commack. All in all I liked the town a lot though!!

Re: Massapequa Home Hunt Saturday!

I grew up in Massapequa and I have to say it is a great town. My parents still live there and I love coming home for a visit. The school district is great and there is tons to do. Like someone said before, I wouldn't go to Sunrise Mall; it has really gone down in the past 10-15 years. I would drive to Roosevelt Field or Walt Whitman, better shops there anyway.

My family lives south of Merrick road, in the All-American area. They have recently added a second floor and my sister moved in with her three kids and her husband. My sister said that she really likes the neighbourhood and her kids are very happy.

The beach is super close and you have access to TOBAY, which, I think, is a great beach. There are also beaches that are by the water with calmer water, like Florence Avenue.

Like a previous person mentioned there are also great restaurants and bars. I love Dimonda's bakery in Massapequa Park town.

All in all a great town!

In my opinion, you will find the South Shore towns to have heavier traffic than those north of the the SSP. I'm guessing this is why you said "traffic!!!" about Massapequa.

Re: Massapequa Home Hunt Saturday!

We moved to Massapequa Park 2 years ago and we love it!!!! If the traffic you are referring to is on Sunrise, once you live there and learn your way around, you can almost always avoid the busy area of sunrise.

The mall isn't that bad. They are really trying to improve it and there is a great play area for the kids and a really nice new family changing area. I actually prefer that mall sometimes b/c the Macy's is usually empty.

I bought a house in Massapequa Park a few months ago. We love it here! All of the houses are very well kept and nice. We can walk to a lake which is also a plus for me. Train in usually 50 minutes. Many great restaurants.
