Paying for Oil at Closing
How is the price of oil determined at closing..Where do they come up with market value? It seems as though Im going to be paying way too much. I thought oil was about $3 a gallon or even lower right now??
TIA

Re: Paying for Oil at Closing
The seller has to request a reading to be done by the oil company.
The oil company give them an reciept or papers indicating how much oil is left and the price per gallon.
The seller had paid over 4 dollars a gallon since her last fill up was the previous winter. We only paid in the mid 3 dollar range.

Our seller had the tank filled about 7 days before we closed. He had the measurement of how much was left at the close and showed us the receipt and we paid the same price he did and paid him the remaining balance of what was owed.

Re: Paying for Oil at Closing
The seller had a delivery about 2 days before closing, so he gave us a copy of the receipt and we had to cut him a check.
